- MICROVAX/VMS TK50 KERMIT DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION
-
- November 1988
-
- There are two TK50 Kermit distribution tapes, called TKV1 and TKV2. TKV1 is
- equivalent to Kermit tapes A, B, and E (popular micros - A, popular minis and
- mainframes - B, and online documentation - E). TKV2 is equivalent to Tapes C,
- D, and E (less popular micros, minis & mainframes, plus documentation).
-
- These tapes are readable on MicroVAX/VMS systems with BACKUP (not COPY). To
- read all the files from the tape cartridge:
-
- 1. SET DEFAULT to the directory under which you want the various Kermit
- subdirectories created.
-
- 2. Physically mount the TK50 cartridge, and type "MOUNT $TAPE1/FOREIGN".
-
- 3. Type "BACKUP/LOG $TAPE1/SAVE [.*]".
-
- If you only want certain files, replace step 3 with something like:
-
- 3. BACKUP/LOG $TAPE1:/SAVE/SELECT=[KERMIT-2]VMS*.* *.*
-
- (This will get just the VMS Kermit files.)
-
- After some time has passed -- 30-60 minutes for the whole cartridge -- the
- files should be in several subdirectories of your current directory (or
- wherever you told BACKUP to put them). In the normal case these subdirectories
- will have names like [.KERMIT], [.KERMIT-2], [.KERMIT-5], etc.
